FAQs

Why name it “Epic Life”?

Because a life of following Jesus is the truly epic life. The term “epic” used in a church name was important for many reasons. Here’s a few. First, most often when we focus on the mission of a church we think in terms of the conversion being made new, being saved, being redeemed which definitely is true. We should be blown away that God would offer salvation and new birth through His Son, but that is merely the start of a life in Christ. Jesus asked his first disciples to “follow” Him. In that daily following they found an epic life. Throughout history followers of Christ have found this epic life. We wanted to focus on the journey not just the start. Second, the truth of Scripture and the unfolding story is the epic story and we’ve been invited into it. Third, as we focus on future generations, the number one reason children and youth keep their faith into adulthood is by stepping into this epic story.

What do you do for children and youth?

Though we don’t have a typical children and youth ministry, most of what we do is taken from research to what is helping children and youth have a faith that lasts. Each Connection Group is multi-generational. All ages participate. This leads to deeper learning, but even more long-lasting is that it helps families communicate their faith together. We do have special events for children and youth as well.

Why do you call your leaders coaches?

We have made an attempt to use different names or terms with the hope to bring a freshness to the unchanging mission of following Christ. Is it working, we don’t know, but the term coach freaks people out less than disciplemaker. Yet, coaching is discipling. Coaching also matches our approach with the Discovery Bible Discussions.

What denomination is Epic Life?

We are sponsored by the Baptist Missionary Association of Arkansas.
